John's Jaunty Jargon

Today has been a pretty coool day so far... even if it has been a long one...

I made up 2 new words at skating today "Struve" and "Trime".

"Struve" is a combination between "Straight" and "Curve"... It would be a lobe shaped like a candy cane- a straight edge turning into a curved one- a struve. lol

"Trime" is a combination between "Try" and "Time".... You would use this if your student has done a specific maneuver correctly and you just want to see it again. "Alright- one more trime"

My roommates and I had a good conversation about people being respectful of other cultures and people of different nationalities in our country.

*Start rant*

It all started when my roommate said she wouldn't want to adopt an Asian baby because when it grew up it would talk funny.

Hmmmmmm- if you've ever thought about it maybe the reason people from Asia speak differently is because English isn't their first language? An Asian baby that is brought up with English as its first language isn't going to have a problem speaking English. Its not rocket science.

Then we got onto the subject of treating people from other countries with respect... The argument was why should we respect them if they don't respect us? Maybe it should be put the other way around. Why should they respect us if we don't respect them?

I hate the fact that other countries hate American's in general. People come in all shapes, colors, sizes, cultures, lifestyles, etc. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! We should all respect each other's lifestyles. Just because I live in America doesn't mean that I agree with everything America does. Just because someone is Japanese doesn't mean they think and act like every other person from Japan.

*End rant*
