The Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame’s web site’s design definitely looks the part of a science fiction page. The futuristic buttons and lines make the page seem really sci-fi.
Although this design looks the part, I must say that it is very busy. There are lines everywhere that tend to distract you from the content of the site. Although the design is very busy the navigation is nicely laid out. I like the drop down menus on the primary navigation. I do like the way the secondary navigation slides out from underneath the primary navigations buttons. This aids the users and attracts their eye to this secondary navigation. For those users who tend to search for everything the search box is in one of the usual places (top of the right most column).
Overall I like the site’s design, but I think it could be cleaned up a little bit. The design tends to get a little busy. I would have thought they would have gone with a cleaner and more sterol look, a white and silver look perhaps. This would help clean up some of the lines and sharp contrasts between the lines/text/backgrounds/graphics.
